Master’s degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program

Knowledge of:

Job Description

The Texas State University Round Rock Campus (RRC) Library is seeking a Reference & Instruction Librarian. Under the direction of the Head RRC Librarian, this position teaches information literacy skills, provides reference services, participates in outreach activities to students, faculty, and academic departments, engages with collection development, and provides circulation related services.

Job Duties

Provide in-depth, specialized research assistance to library patrons in a variety of ways and locations, including but not limited to in-person, online, via chat, text, webcam, and telephone. Plan and teach formal library instruction sessions in both traditional and electronic classroom settings integrating theories of information literacy. Develop and maintain various instructional and promotional materials including tutorials, web based resources, and other formats to support the teaching objective. Participate in the evaluation of instruction program and outcome assessment of instruction sessions as well as collaborate with faculty and other academic professionals in planning, implementing, and assessing information literacy programming. Promote the use of subject-specific and course related information resources and services to meet the needs of users and expectations, utilizing current technologies and information tools. Create, update, or otherwise maintain various Web pages and social media for the unit. Communicate effectively using a variety of methods, maintain a professional demeanor, and work collaboratively as a team member. Participate in Collection Development duties including the use of request forms and creating an improved library collection that supports curricular and research needs. Provide services related to the check in/out of library materials using the library’s integrated library system (ILS) or through manual charge as needed and utilize higher-level functions of the ILS related to holds, recalls, and other functions as needed. Complete projects and prepare reports, statistical and otherwise, as assigned. Engage in professional activities in accordance with Texas State University’s standards for promotion for professional librarians and curators
