Position Description

The Department of Physics at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the fall of 2018 at either the assistant professor or associate professor rank. The successful candidate will be an experimental condensed matter researcher, and will be able to communicate well with a diverse population of colleagues, students, and administrators.

Required Qualifications

At the assistant professor level the required qualifications are:
1) a Ph.D. or equivalent earned degree in physics or a closely-related field;
2) postdoctoral or equivalent research experience;
3) the ability to teach physics courses at the undergraduate and graduate level;
4) a record of peer-reviewed publications; and
5) the potential to establish an externally-funded research program.

At the associate professor level, in addition to the above, applicants must have established a robust, externally funded, independent research program and demonstrate the ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate level. The eligible candidate will receive the appropriate rank based on university and department standards.

Preferred Qualifications

All candidates whose research complements existing Department research and facilities will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with the ability to leverage existing capabilities in Microscopy and Molecular Beam Epitaxy. Preference will also be given to candidates with a demonstrated record of research funding who can effectively mentor both undergraduate and graduate students.
