Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Strong linux server administration skills
  • Strong back end web development skills
  • Strong programming skills related to data integrations
  • Understanding of databases as they apply to mobile and web applications
  • Understanding of Web Services, RESTful APIs, etc.
  • Ability to analyze and develop software in multiple languages/environments
  • Ability to read, evaluate, and criticize code changes made by others
  • Ability to translate non-technical user requests into technical requirements
  • Ability to follow complex written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to present complex material to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to contribute to design and strategy discussions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some experience with Windows/IIS administration
  • Understanding of modular/layered software engineering practices
  • Experience with container systems such as Docker
  • Experience with configuration management systems such as Ansible
  • Experience working with and contributing to open source projects
  • Experience with common open source software (Linux, Apache, Tomcat, MySQL, Jenkins, etc)
  • Experience with common programming languages (Java, Perl, Go, Ruby, Node, Python, Rust, Haskell, etc)
  • Experience in a higher education environment

Overview

We are looking for a DevOps engineer to manage software installations, create integrations, build tools for internal use, and generally push our infrastructure to be more reliable.

About Us

We are a team of developers supporting major creative systems like the CMS, LMS, and Video CMS. We work in a lot of different technology stacks and try to expand into new ones as the opportunity arises. We work to keep our configurations in source control with tools like Ansible and Docker. We're looking for someone who can analyze, organize, and improve our software configurations. Someone with the motivation to stay on top of new trends, update best practices, and figure out the best way to help the most people. Most of all we need a great developer who can get comfortable in any technical environment.

Job Duties
  • Support third-party software installations and updates, especially when hosted on-campus
  • Create integrations between software systems to enable or improve workflows
  • Create tools for internal use, especially use by our customer engagement teams
  • Create and maintain documentation for our software environments and routine tasks
  • Contribute to software projects as needed
  • Work closely with our customer engagement teams to prioritize projects
  • Ensure services are redundant, available, and secure
  • Stay up to date on best practices, advise others with what you learn
  • Occasionally present or suggest topics to improve our team awareness and practices
