Position Description

The Department of Agriculture at Texas State University invites applications for a 9 month, tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level with expectation of teaching one summer term based on departmental need and student demand. The position is primarily a teaching and research appointment in agricultural economics/business with other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

The applicant must have:
1) Ph.D. in agricultural economics or agribusiness with primary expertise in quantitative methods, finance, production economics, and/or farm/agribusiness management;
2) documented evidence of the potential to establish an independent, externally funded research program that complements existing programs in the Department of Agriculture at Texas State such as: economics of food production and consumption, agricultural and trade policies, small producers initiatives, integrated and sustainable agriculture, and agro- terrorism;
3) documented evidence of willingness to contribute to a strong undergraduate teaching program and future development of graduate programs; and
4) proficiency in computer software applications including those for designing web pages and posting course materials, etc., on the internet is required. Additional information about the department may be found at

Preferred Qualifications

Research publications in the peer-reviewed journal(s), experience in writing grant proposals, and previous teaching and/ or research experience.
