Position Description

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Biochemistry in the fall of 2018. The successful candidate will be able to communicate well with a diverse population of colleagues, students, and administrators.

Required Qualifications

At the Assistant professor level the required qualifications are:
1) a Ph.D. or equivalent earned degree in biochemistry or a closely-related field;
2) postdoctoral or equivalent research experience;
3) the ability to teach biochemistry courses at the undergraduate and graduate level;
4) a record of peer-reviewed publications; and
5) the potential to establish an externally-funded research program.

At the Associate Professor level, in addition to the above, applicants must have established a robust, externally funded, independent research program and demonstrate the ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate level. The eligible candidate will receive the appropriate rank based on university and department standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates whose research expertise complements the department’s strengths and who can effectively mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
